“That NZ ADCA supports
changing I.A.C.A. CHAMPIONSHIP Rule 6f to:
New
rule:
“f.
The regatta shall consist of a series of 9 races of
which 5 races must be completed to constitute a
Championship series. When 6 or more races have been
completed, a participant may discard his worst result.
(See for the I.A.C.A. preferred schedules in Appendix
3).
Current
rule:
“f.
The regatta shall consist of a series of 9 races of
which 5 races must be completed to constitute a
Championship series. When 6 or more races have been
completed, a participant may discard his worst result;
when 9 races have been completed, a participant may
discard his 2 worst results. (See for the I.A.C.A.
preferred schedules in Appendix 3).
Commentary:
- Two discards rewards inconsistency / poor preparation
- One discard should result in fewer general recalls
- Trend in high profile Classes in reduction / or
complete absence of discards (eg Farr 40, TP 52 have no
discards, Olympics have one)
-
this rule change only affects the Worlds and
Europeans/Nth Americans – they don’t have to apply to NZ
regattas.
