The forecast for the weekend was for fine
and sunny. Good for camping which was what everyone did
at the bottom end of the lake. Wind was always going to
be a problem, but come 1pm Saturday a nice sou’wester
blew in. Just enough for the eight boats that had
arrived to sheet in.
All gear had to be in good free moving
order to cope with the typical small lake wind shifts.
Five quick races were fitted in nicely for all twice
round the lake, lasting about 25 – 30 minutes.
Wayne Limbrick enjoyed being back with
the A class boys (he built Pat’s pink boat) and sailed
alternative races on ‘Wet Nuts” with me.
Next morning a slow start around 1030a.m.
was had. After this first race there was a lot of boat
swapping going on and the seriousness of competition
disappeared. Some liked other boats; others didn’t but
most enjoyed the south easterly breeze and another sunny
day.
Come midday a surprise barbecue and free
beer went down well, then as usual when everyone was
packing up, a wonderful northwester arrived.
The weekend was a nice way to end the
season- for some, it’s going to be a long wait till the
next regatta.

Saturday results are included; Sunday’s
seemed irrelevant because of all the boat swapping. |
